Coala Festival Portugal has announced two more names for its third edition, scheduled for 30 and 31 May 2026 at the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo in Cascais. Both artists share Brazilian nationality, although they belong to different generations. Maria Bethânia and João Gomes now join a line-up that already includes Slow J, Bonga and Lulu Santos.

A central figure of Brazilian popular music, Maria Bethânia takes to the Coala stage in a symbolic year, marking 60 years of her career. The show promises to blend new material with a repertoire spanning decades and remaining present in collective memory, including songs such as “Cheiro de Amor”, “As Canções Que Você Fez Pra Mim” and “Não Dá Mais Pra Segurar (Explode Coração)”.

João Gomes represents a new wave of Brazilian music, bringing the piseiro style to the festival. Born in the Pernambuco hinterland, he has gained national and international recognition in recent years. A Latin Grammy winner, he has played a key role in bringing Northeastern tradition closer to a contemporary language while maintaining a strong connection to his roots.

The curation of Coala Festival Portugal is once again led by Gabriel Andrade, the festival’s co-founder, and Kalaf Epalanga, musician and writer, in a programme designed to span eras and territories, connecting Brazil, Portugal and Africa.

Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, Av. da República 371 (Cascais). 30–31 May, Sat–Sun. €70–€140
