Smashville has arrived in Cascais. The smash burger brand that became a social media sensation has opened its fourth Portuguese store at CascaiShopping. Following Atrium Saldanha, Amoreiras, and Almada Forum, the chain – created by Fernando and Duarte Costa and Francisco Guedes, the names behind Poke House and DCK – is continuing its rapid expansion. The opening took place on November 5.
The new space keeps the retro aesthetic that defines Smashville: red neon lights, white tiles, and direct nods to 1960s and 70s American diners. It’s an environment designed to be photographed, filmed, and shared, which partly explains the brand’s popularity among younger audiences. On TikTok, Smashville racks up thousands of views with videos shot in its own restaurants.
The menu is short and straightforward, featuring the formulas that conquered Lisbon: the Smashville (€8.90; €9.90/double), Cheese (€8.90; €9.90/double), Bacon (€9.90; €10.90/double), and Chicken (€8.90). All burgers are made with thin patties smashed on the griddle, brioche buns from Pennsylvania, and sauces developed in-house – including the slightly spicy Smoked and the Smashville, inspired by the classic American chain In-N-Out. Crispy fries (€3) and chocolate chip cookies (€2.50) complete the experience, which can be paired with a drink (soft drinks €2, water or lemonade €1.50) or a Coca-Cola Freestyle (€1).
The CascaiShopping opening is part of an ambitious expansion plan: new locations are expected by the end of 2025 at Campo Novo, near Sporting’s stadium, and NorteShopping in Porto.
