We've entered the new Loja das Meias

In the year it celebrates 30 years in Cascais (the brand itself has already passed 120), Loja das Meias reopens with a fresh look and plenty of novelties. We explored the three floors of pure luxury.

After five months closed for renovations, Loja das Meias in Cascais has reopened. Those who pass by the emblematic red building in the town center, just a few steps from the bay, may not notice anything, but inside everything has changed. The interior architecture project by the Italian firm Cardinali & Gazzabin Architects opened up the shop windows, bringing more light into the space. Additionally, a golden brass installation spans the three floors, displaying iconic pieces from the brands showcased on the racks and shelves. Alongside giants like Celine, Loewe, Balmain, Givenchy, Ferragamo, Pucci, Missoni, or Dolce & Gabanna, which already had a presence in Cascais before the renovation, three new brands have been added: Jacquemus, JW Anderson, and AMI Paris.

Refinement is everywhere - in the soft lines and colors of the decor, in the comfortable sofas of the lounge and fitting areas, in the aroma of Baobab candles that spread throughout the space, and in the personalized service that includes Moët & Chandon champagne and Godiva chocolates. However, the atmosphere is not intimidating, nor are the clothes and accessories exclusively for grand events: on the balcony next to the entrance, where Jacquemus and JW Anderson are located, the collections are younger; and the second floor, an attic where AMI Paris, MSGM, and Zadig & Voltaire pieces are displayed for both men and women, is relaxed and more alternative.

The investment in the Cascais store follows the increase in foreigners in the town - visitors and residents alike. According to Pedro Miguel Costa, the founder's great-grandson and current managing director, "Loja das Meias has been at the forefront of the fashion world for over 120 years, and undoubtedly, the growing demand for luxury products was the main driver for us to completely renovate the Cascais store. Being located in a town that has differentiated itself by offering very high-quality hotels, golf courses, resorts, and international events, there is a growing audience of both nationals and foreigners seeking luxury fashion, making it all the more relevant for us to be here."

Handbags, shoes, trousers, shirts, perfumes, dresses and tops - there's plenty to explore, provided your wallet allows it. But when visiting Loja das Meias in Cascais, you can't miss stopping at the staircase to admire the panel "A Mulher e a Moda" (The Woman and Fashion) by the artist Querubim Lapa. Created in 1960 for the first Loja das Meias in Rossio, it now has a part in Cascais. Soon, a QR code will be installed next to the artwork so that everyone can learn more about it, the author, and the history of the store, which in 1905 began by selling stockings and corsets and in 1925 became the first in the country to have a commercial elevator.
