Coming to prominence as a DIY video artist in the early ‘90s, Benning's experimental shorts explored sexuality and gender with brutal honesty. In "Shared Eye," Benning cuts up 40 mixed-media panels, reassembling them in ways that examines perception as a shared construct, dependent upon the viewpoints of many different people.
