At this point, even opening a Starbucks with less than 18-20 draft handles seems almost unthinkable on the North Side, but when this spot quietly opened with 50+ beers on tap in June 2014, it immediately added some much needed beer-list-depth to the area. Located in the spot first held by Villains when it was one of the city’s many burger & beer bars, First Draft is the kind of low-key local’s bar that’s also a destination for beer enthusiasts -- every neighborhood could use more of what they’re selling. At a time when many others are trying to be the next tiki bar/food truck/banh mi/fried chicken shack, it’s nice to see a place comfortable enough to just be a really goddamn good bar and grill.

Its friendly service its only match by the huge list of domestic & imported beers

So many good beer options! Decent place to eat too. The recent menu changes offer some good options, but the food prices are pretty high for mostly standard bar fare.

The best beer selection by far in the loop/S.loop and I put them right up there with anyone in the city. Great space with lots of natural light and and the food is far better than your average sports bar.

This area was in desperate need for a place like this. I would consider it the South Loop's version of Cheers but with an amazing rotating draft beer list and enough tv's to make even your biggest sports fan envious. Aside from all of this, the best part is the staff. You can tell they've all been together for awhile and will make you feel right at home. Whether you're going by yourself or with a large group, I highly recommend it.
