There’s no pretense here—in fact, the Green Eye’s self-proclaimed addition to the ’hood is “cheap drinks for reasonable people.” Locals head here for Lagunitas drafts, a small outdoor patio (in the summer) and its prime spot right next to the Blue Line, which makes this place easier to drop into your routine than sleep.

I was totally taken aback by Green Eye. Just off of the Western blue line stop, I wrongly thought the unassuming building would be a bore once inside. Instead, the bar was packed on a weekday after work with people from all backgrounds meeting up for a beer or two (or three). The service was friendly, and there's a great beer selection. There's a fairly hefty credit card minimum, so just take cash.
