Swedish and Norwegian accents abound at this Andersonville stalwart. If you’re lucky, you can snag a couch in the back by the fireplace where you can take in the cool vintage bar (the design of which was inspired by the S.S. Normandie, the world’s largest ocean liner during the ’30s), sip some seasonal glogg and check out the friendly neighborhood crowd.

If your boss is going to rudely kick out a group of six, one of whom has been a patron for 20 years, from an open seating area, have the decency to buy them a round. Or OR keep the area roped off for VIPs. Having a server come over and say they have to move "or your boss will yell" is a horrible way to keep customers. But hey, thanks for introducing the group to some new bars in the area.

Simon's is that dive that instantly wins your heart. It bleeds classic Andersonville, and you can't beat the jukebox! or Hodie Snitch!

Coming to Simon's during the holidays for a hot mug of Glogg should definitely be a bucket list item for all Chicagoans. My friends and I come every year and this year we were lucky enough to pop in on a night with live Christmas music as well. The bar is cash only though, so be sure to hit up an ATM before stopping in.

Best tavern in Chicago. Cash only. Great jukebox. Cheap drinks. And free live bands on Sundays and Wednesdays!

The Glogg ...  5 Stars.    The Bar and Fireplace.... 1 star.      The Bartender....4 stars.  Best Glogg (Gluhwein) I've had outside of Munich.  Sad though that your review says there's a fireplace.  It's a fake with no heat.  We made the trek in the rain to this place (take the 22) but we wound up at Hopleaf which was so much nicer and the food/wine/beer was not expensive and really good.
