This cozy, immaculately detailed Irish pub (formerly Four Corners) might be the last thing you’d expect on the spaghetti strip of Taylor Street, but soon it’ll be first on your “places to swig pints and shovel eats from across the pond” list. Just ask any of the UIC doctors who are regulars.

the Drum and Monkey is a great place for any scenario. Whether it be having a few beers and watching the game, or raging on a Saturday night, the Drum and Monkey's vibe is always spot on. The drink prices are some of the cheapest you'll find in the city, the food is above-average for a dive and the people are extremely nice. Add that the place is always diverse in race, age and gender and you've got the perfect bar.
The Drum and Monkey is by no means a classy bar. You're not going to find a tasty cocktail on the menu, but you will find $2 cans of Hamm's. There's an old, beat up shuffle board table in the back, along with a cozy little patio for smokers. If you're on Taylor Street and you're drinking to get drunk, this spot is a sure bet.
