Time Out says
You couldn’t fit another beer on the killer list or another Bucktown local in this cozy tavern on occasional Tuesdays when the bar unveils new or limited releases of specialty beers. If you’re a more low-key drinker but like the vibe, stop by in the a.m. when the Map Room functions as a coffeehouse.

Whether you're a beer nerd or just learning to love the hoppy, malty brews, the Map Room is a great place to try new things. If you're unsure of what to try, just ask one of the bartenders for a suggestion—if you have a basic idea of the flavors you like, they'll be able to lead you to one of the beers on the bar's extensive menu. They'll even give you nearby restaurant recommendations if you're not content with munching on the gratis pretzel rods at every table.
The Map Room would be a regular go to for me if I liked beer. But I don't, so mostly I walk in through the door with my friends who do. The ambiance is great, the interior is dark and the ever-revolving hand-drawn beer menu on the chalk board above the bar is sure to be appreciated by any beer aficionado. The dizzying array of names and styles on the beer list can be deciphered by the helpful cast of bartenders. While this is just another bar in Chicago for me, for those with a taste for hops, this place will hit the spot.
