Vivo has converted its upstairs private-dining space into a weekends-only cocktail lounge. Sort of. On a recent visit, a corner of the second-story space was used as overflow seating for restaurant diners. But at the small bar, a workhorse bartender poured startlingly strong French 75s into chilled martini glasses for a crowd of silver-haired men and their screeching young “girlfriends”—one set of whom we spotted slipping into the restroom together. Who knew the Vivo crowd was having so much fun?
