Founded by a Chicago firefighter, this Avondale pub puts an Irish spin on the typical bar food. The Neapolitan-influenced pizzas can be topped with bangers, rashers, black or white pudding, Irish bacon or Irish sausage, while the hot dog features a jumbo sausage dressed with horseradish mustard sauce, Kerrygold whiskey-aged cheddar and fresh mustard greens. Of course, a traditional Irish breakfast is also offered (and available all day), but Wolfhound isn't just a place to visit when you're hungry—there are plenty of Irish and local beers on tap, a respectable whiskey list and even an espresso menu. Weekday happy hour from 4-6pm is when you’ll find great deals like half-priced pizzas and $5 Guinness pours. And if you're around on a nice day, there's a good chance that the garage-style window at the front of the bar will be open.
