I'm kind of miffed that this place receives as much good publicity & reviews as it does. It's been on my list for a while, so when I was doing a patio crawl on Armitage this past weekend, I decided to stop by. I'm thinking it's more of a late-night place, because at about 6 p.m. on a Saturday, it was completely empty, lol. But it was a gorgeous 80 degree day on a Saturday, so most of the other patios in Logan Square were booked up. But I didn't mind the fact that we were the only patrons, so much as the other lackluster parts of my experience.

The drinks were pricey ($10-11) and very boozy, but tasted almost like a cleaning solvent had been added to all of them. It was weird. We tried about three cocktails and didn't like any of them. The bartender was super creepy and unhelpful. He talked very low (hard to even make out what he was saying) and couldn't say much about the drinks, mumbling very little under his breath, and giving us blank stares. We started just getting super creeped out and left. lol. Not fun. I'd say stick to the fairly close by Best Intentions, which is one of my favorite bars in Chicago.

Weegee's is quite off the beaten path. I wasn't sure if I was in the right spot when we walked in, but I thought their cocktails were excellent. Their back patio is great, and there is shuffleboard and a photo booth. The bartender isn't too helpful with telling the flavor profile of the drinks, but they're good regardless.

Weegee's Lounge is one of my absolute favorite bars in Logan Square. It has a retro vibe that's accentuated by the classic styled bar & traditional black & white photo booth. Weegee's has a hidden gem out back, a patio! In the summer grab a drink & head out to the patio to enjoy the evening. If you still want something else to do while you have a drink, play some shuffleboard!

Don't be intimidated by the bartender that is dressed more nicely than you are. This old school cocktail bar may seem rigid and antiquated, but the folks who make your drinks are usually helpful and will guide your through a menu that features some shockingly strong drinks. There's also shuffleboard, but make sure to play before you get too tipsy:

This is one of the best classic cocktails bars in the city. Weegee's is old timey, darkly lit and has an unexpectedly gorgeous patio out back (there’s a tree in the center!). Oh, I almost forgot about the photo booth. It actually exposes your photos on film—no cheap print outs here. There’s also a smooth shuffleboard table.

Perfect cocktails! Ambience! Shuffleboard! A quiet back patio! WeeGee's is a little off the beaten path, but it's worth it. The bartender doesn't make a big fuss, but he knows what he's doing and he's kind, if straightforward.
