The Muellers are keeping Carole King in the family. Chicago's own Abby Mueller is set to take the lead role in the first national tour of Beautiful—The Carole King Musical, the same role that won a Tony for her sister, Jessie Mueller, in the Broadway production.
Abby Mueller has herself appeared on Broadway in the company of Kinky Boots; Jessie and Abby's brothers Matt and Andrew are actors as well, as are their parents, Roger Mueller and Jill Shellabarger. The touring production will have a 12-week engagement at Chicago's Oriental Theatre beginning December 1. The tour launches in Providence, Rhode Island, in September.
