An early heat wave is headed our way this weekend

Hope you’ve blocked off some beach time this weekend: Highs in the 90s could hit Chicago for several consecutive days starting Saturday, the National Weather Service reports.

Afternoon temps could break the 90-degree mark Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday—and if so, it would be the first time Chicago saw four consecutive days crack 90 before the middle of June since 1999. (It’s only happened nine times in the last 145 years.)

The NWS reminds you never to leave kids or pets in the car and to stay hydrated in extreme heat. And as Kurt Vonnegut never said (but the Tribune’s Mary Schmich did), wear sunscreen.
