Atlas Brewing Company rebrands as Burnt City Brewing

After a long naming dispute with Washington D.C. brewery Atlas Brew Works, the Chicago-based Atlas Brewing Company will debut its new name, Burnt City Brewing, next month.

Much of what we know as Atlas will remain the same—the brewpub will still be at 2747 N Lincoln Avenue, there will still be bowling next door and the company's canning facility will still operate out of 825 E 99th Street. But the brewery will also be making some drastic changes, including an updated menu and a new lineup of canned beer (well, mostly new—the Diversey Pale Ale is being renamed Dick the Butcher Pale Ale) including the Face Melter, a hibiscus IPA.

“We took a conservative approach with Atlas—but then we burned it all down, and that really became our tagline and our creative direction for having more fun with brewing,” Burnt City Brewery Head Brewer and Founder John Saller said in a press release. “I’m looking forward to bringing that new attitude to everything we do.”

The brewery will go through rebranding in May, but the brewpub will remain open throughout the period of change.
