The Illinois Democratic Primary is just three weeks away, and Senator Bernie Sanders' campaign is scaling up its efforts in the state by opening eight new field offices, including a second one in Chicago. The liberal, white-haired curmudgeon from Vermont is currently trailing Hillary Clinton (who was born in Chicago and raised in Park Ridge) by 19 points in Illinois, according to a recent poll, and the rush of new offices is his latest effort to close that gap.

Last week, the Sanders campaign opened its first office in the city at 600 W Roosevelt Road—the second office in the city is on the South Side at 705 E 75th Street. Sanders' campaign will also open offices in Joliet, Berwyn, Collinsville, Springfield, Lombard, Batavia and Waukegan. All of the new Illinois office locations (with the exception of Waukegan) will be hosting events from 6pm to 9pm tonight for Sanders supporters and volunteers.
