Time has come to an end for Burt Katz's Morton Grove pan pizza joint, originally announced on a post on LTH Forum from a Burt's Place employee and followed by an official Facebook announcement. Due to worsening medical conditions, Katz had closed the restaurant with plans to reopen as his medical condition improved.

"Time has taken its toll on health and what have you. Regrettably we have to take [a] step back at this time. We appreciate everything our customers have brought to us," Katz was quoted as saying on the Burt's Place Facebook page. "Things are in a state of flux but progressing."

The pizza place has been noted by multiple outlets, including a cover photo on Saveur magazine and a mention from Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations. Burt's Place followed Katz's ownership of Inferno, Gullivers and Pequod's and will be missed by the Chicago community.
