Charles Busch, the Tony-nominated playwright, award-winning cabaret artist and drag performer par excellence, will bring his recent cabaret act Charles Busch: That Girl, That Boy to Chicago’s Pride Arts Center for two nights in January, Pride Films and Plays announced today.

Busch, known as a playwright for works like Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, Die, Mommie, Die!, Psycho Beach Party and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife—in most of which he included a drag role for himself—debuted That Girl, That Boy in 2015 at New York’s Feinstein’s/54 Below. The show is a mix of stories, songs and character scenes, in which Busch will be joined by his longtime music director, Tom Judson.

Though a New Yorker by birth and choice, Busch has history with Chicago; he attended Northwestern University in the 1970s, and honed his performance chops at venues around the city. His appearance at Pride Arts Center is said to be the first of a quarterly series of engagements by prominent figures, under the banner of “Pride Arts Center Presents.” Busch will perform That Girl, That Boy on Sunday, January 29 and Monday, January 30 at 7:30pm at the Broadway at Pride Arts Center. Tickets are $75 for reserved seats and $40 for general admission, and are on sale now.
