Check out the Doorstep, a delicious new breakfast and lunch food truck

Need to switch up your breakfast routine a bit? There's a hip new food truck (with a set location) called the Doorstep that will hook you up. It's parked at the Polonia Triangle (or Polish Square, at Ashland, Division and Milwaukee) right across from the fountain with breakfast and lunch offerings and a few coffees and teas (courtesy Bowtruss and Mighty Leaf).

The truck is run by Aaron Feinhandler, Marie Cinquino and Izaac Moran, a group of Alinea Group vets with a stated goal "to improve the West Town community." They're working with Activate Chicago and the Polish Triangle Coalition on the project. The ivy-covered trailer is open Monday through Friday from 6am–5pm and weekends from 8am–1pm.

When we stopped in, we grabbed the avocado toast, peppered with paprika and tiny lemon juice balls about the size of roe. It's perfect for breakfast, light and flavorful on crunchy bread. We also got the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, which normally comes on a bialy, but they'd already run out of the bread by 8:45am (seriously, this place was hoppin'), so it was substituted with toast. The egg is light and fluffy topped with super melty American cheese and savory bacon. With those two dishes under our belt, we're still eager to try the lunch items, so probably we'll be making this stop more regularly before hopping on the Blue Line.
