After opening 10 locations in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen is coming to Chicago this fall. The restaurant was created by Chipotle, and you'll be able to tell—the model is exactly the same, except instead of burritos, burrito bowls and tacos, you'll build white or brown rice bowls, rice noodle bowls and salads, all of which are gluten-, wheat- and dairy-free. Toppings include grilled chicken satay, pork and chicken meatballs, tofu with ginger, eggplant, kale, and sauces like tamarind vinaigrette and peanut sauce.

I've been to ShopHouse in D.C. (and also tried it at its summer festival in Lincoln Park a couple of years ago), and it seems that it got rid of its mediocre banh mi, which was a good call—the bowls are much better.

ShopHouse will be located at 22-24 W Jackson Blvd, and hours will be 11am–10pm daily.
