Want to make heaven a place on Earth this All Hallow’s Eve? Head to Current at the W Hotel Lakeshore this Halloween for a night of drinks, dinner and dancing inspired by Black Mirror’s ‘80s-tastic episode, “San Junipero.” The hour-long story became an instant cult classic in 2017, and earned itself an Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie this year.

The BYO-leg warmers event kicks off with a cocktail hour called “Meet me at the Quagmire” (a reference to the shady club in San Junipero). Following drinks, there’s a four-course meal, dance party and costume contest. The October 31 event starts at 7pm, and tickets are $45. Dressing up isn’t a requirement, per se, but c’mon, how could you not? Just look at these outfits!

The town of San Junipero is a dreamy, synthesized California paradise where folks can opt to spend eternity instead of venturing into an unknown afterlife. In the episode, Yorkie and Kelly (played by Mackenzie Davis and Gugu Mbatha-Raw) fall in passionate love, which handicaps and husbands prevented in their “real” lives. The episode offers a boppy, romantic reprieve from Black Mirror’s typical theme of “your iPhone will steal your secrets and drive you to insanity.” Unsurprisingly, queer women love “San Junipero.”

If you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favor and give it a stream—it’s waiting for you on Netflix. It’ll give you incredible outfit inspiration for Tuesday’s party.
