The Garfield Park Conservatory is about to get a gorgeous upgrade. Beginning next month, a temporary art installation will brighten up the century-old greenhouse facility.

The exhibit "solarise: a sea of all colors" will consist of a series of five light and sculptural environments created by Luftwerk, the moniker for Chicago artists Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero. The environments will include a programmable LED light façade connected to the ribs on the exterior of the conservatory's Palm House, a canopy of blue and red petals in the Show House and a series of mirrored sculpture panels floating above the Palm House reflection pond.

The upcoming art installation adds to an already big year for the West Side attraction. Last April, the conservatory reopened all of its showrooms to the public after four years of repairs on its glass roofs that were drastically damaged during a 2011 hail storm.

The exhibit will run from September 23, 2015 through September 22, 2016. Check out some renderings of the pieces in the slideshow.
