Hot Doug's fans rejoice—there's a documentary coming this summer

We see you out there, Hot Doug's fanatics, lining up at Cubs games for a dog and grabbing slices of Atomic Pizza at Piece. While there's still no real chance of Doug Sohn reviving his dearly departed hot dog stand, the iconic restaurant will be the subject of a documentary (a "dougumentary," if you will) that is scheduled for release later this summer.

The trailer shows lines from some of the restaurant's last days in 2014, accompanied by narration explaining how the small Avondale eatery became a hallowed dining destination. Filmmaker Chris Markos told Eater that he and his brother Nick plan on showing the 62 minute film in Chicago and potentially other cities, if crowds respond positively. Check out the trailer below and get ready for a summer of encased meat nostalgia.
