Illinois native Jane Lynch, who started her career in Chicago working with companies ranging from the Annoyance to Steppenwolf, will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Chicago Comedy Film Festival. Lynch will be present to accept the award at the sixth annual fest's opening ceremonies, November 10 at the Harold Ramis Film School at Second City, which is co-presenting the award. Ticketholders for that evening's 8:30pm program of Chicago Filmmakers shorts will be allowed to attend the 7pm reception, which is otherwise invite-only.

Lynch, best known for her Emmy-winning role on Glee and as part of the Christopher Guest mockumentary family, appears in the short film Writers Block, which will screen as part of a festival program Saturday, November 12 at the New 400 Theater. Screenwriter Carol Leifer will be present for a Q&A. The 2016 Chicago Comedy Film Festival runs November 10–12.
