Remember last week, when Chicago got another fantastic looking new summer music festival, RuidoFest? Well, we now have another one. The same weekend. The good people at React Presents, the leading local dance-music promotors behind Spring Awakening, will deliver Mamby on the Beach, July 11 and 12, 2015. Like Ruido, it refreshingly goes down on the South Side, on the lakefront at Oakwood Beach. The bill is rather stunning, and leans heavy on sunny electronic pop and house. Passion Pit and Empire of the Sun headline. After that you get Phantogram, Röyksopp, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, Classixx, Cut Copy (DJ set), Cashmere Cat, Matthew Dear, Tanlines and more. This looks like a blast. It more than makes up for that Wavefront-shaped hole in our slate of huge music events. The only problem—how to see everything. Besides Ruido, the Taste of Chicago is going down that weekend, too.
