These are not your normal cookies. Billing themselves as “indulgent cookies,” they're “bigger, thicker and richer.” They're not wrong—something more akin to a cookie pie, these crazily flavored cookies (and a few normal ones) are about to open a storefront in North Center. Tomorrow after a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30pm, Cookie Spin (4350 N Leavitt St) will open its doors for cookies, ice cream, smoothies and shakes.

We taste tested all of the cookies and picked out a few of our favorites to help you make a decision. The “cookies” come in two varieties—mini or large, so you can pick as many as you'd like or stick all your eggs into one basket. Among our favorites were lemon poppy seed, cookies and cream and s'mores.

The biggest sentiment of our tasters were that the Cookie Spin cookie is more muffin than a cookie, so if you're among those who love a really good breakfast muffin, grab the minimalist lemon poppy seed, with a swirl of icing and a sweet (but not too sweet) lemon cookie muffin. S'mores fans will love the s'mores, because it tastes exactly like s'mores, with a gooey marshmallow, melty chocolate and crushed graham cracker goodness. Among the more polarizing flavors has to be the blue raspberry, with sentiments ranging from “absolutely not” to “weird but I'd eat it all.” I'd fall a little closer to the “weird but I'd eat it all” camp, because this thing tastes just like you turned blue Kool-Aid into a cookie and there's just enough nostalgia to hook me.

Personally, the ultimate peanut butter cookie was my favorite—I'm a sucker for anything peanut butter and this cookie-cake-muffin conglomerate does the trick, with sliced Reese's peanut butter cups and Reese's pieces inside. On top there are swirls of melted peanut butter and chocolate shavings. Try these and other treats at Cookie Spin when it opens up tomorrow.
