Sean Graney, the founding artistic director of The Hypocrites theater company, will retake the helm of the company as his successor, Halena Kays, steps down, the company announced today.

Graney, who relinquished the leadership role three years ago, says he has found a new interest in the areas of development and fundraising that he recently disdained. Certainly, Graney has developed a loyal team of artistic creators willing to follow him where stodgier establishments would not—leading to creations like last year's All Our Tragic, which likely would never have found life elsewhere.

Kays, a longtime member of The Hypocrites, will continue to provide leadership as part of a new artistic council, which will also include Miranda Anderson, Geoff Button and Steven Wilson. Kays is set to direct Endgame, to run February 20–April 4.
