Gearing up for back-to-school season this August? So is the Chicago tech scene, which is hosting events that focus on developing new skills, polishing profiles and learning from the leaders. Considering a new career path in coding? Attend the cross-bootcamp mixer or Dev Bootcamp’s LinkedIn workshop. Want to dig in and build out your portfolio? Chicago Bootcamps: Info Session + Alumni PanelCurious about this whole bootcamp phenomenon? Attend this multi-bootcamp mixer at 1871 to get a wider view of the code school industry and to meet staff and students from leaders from around Chicago. Technically Speaking: Demo NightTechnically Speaking is a judged tech demo night that showcases tech talent from underrepresented groups. You can attend to observe or apply to demo. This event is organized by Tech While Black, but is open to all. (Dev Bootcamp, 351 W. Hubbard, August 4, 6pm. $15.)

Architecture, Engineering, Construction HackathonAt the annual AEC Hackathon, meet other professionals passionate about combining technology and the world around us in both practical and innovative ways. The two-day event kicks off Friday night, and runs through Sunday at BuiltWorlds. (BuiltWorlds Media, 1260 W Madison St, August 5-7. $35-$250.)

Tales from the Trenches: Rishi Shah and Shradha Agarwal of ContextMediaMatter, Chicago’s healthcare accelerator, will host the CEO and President of ContextMedia in a candid conversation about building their business, their investment strategy and their plans for revolutionizing healthcare. (Matter, 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, Suite 1230, August 11, 6pm. Wearable Tech & Sports: In Partnership with RithmioThis quarterly series focuses on new and exciting developments in wearable tech. This quarter, in partnership with Rithmio and featuring Catapult Sports and Rise Science, the meetup will focus on sports and athletes. (1871, 222 W Merchandise Mart Plaza Suite 1212, August 16, 6pm. Leverage Your LinkedInFor career changers of all stripes, this hands-on workshop will cover profile basics, advanced LinkedIn searching, how to build consistency in your online profiles and more. It’s taught by Dev Bootcamp’s career services team, which helps musicians, writers, lawyers and all kinds of folks switch careers into web development. They’ve seen it all. (Dev Bootcamp, 351 W.
