If you see a couple of tiny houses cruising down the freeway later this week, don't freak out—they know where they're going. Two tiny houses are touring the U.S. starting with a stop in Chicago this week as part of the Traveling Tiny House Tour. Whether you have big tiny house dreams or are flirting with the idea of downsizing, you can get a closer look at the petite homes on wheels this week at 2 North Riverside Plaza, just off of Washington Street and the river.

Stop by and walk through either house—each is less than 260 square feet—and you might be surprised by the lofted bedrooms and many other things you’d expect from a larger house, including a full bathroom and kitchen. Thousand Trails partnered with Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, the Colorado company that builds them, to show off the eco-friendly homes. “They’re small, but the builders are really creative with their use of space,” said Annie Colletti, a spokesperson for the Traveling Tiny House Tour.

You can visit the houses on Tuesday from noon to 6pm and Wednesday from 8am to 5pm Chicago will be the houses' first stop in the U.S. and the only stop that’s smack in the middle of a major city. “These are some of the tallest buildings in the world and these are some of the tiniest houses in the world,” Colletti said.

If you’re a fan of shows like Tiny House Nation, Tiny House Builders or Tiny House, Big Living, you’ll want to check little guys these out.
