The five best things to do this weekend in Chicago

1. See the best in the biz

After a 2014 car accident that nearly ended his career, comedian Tracy Morgan is making a comeback on tour. If his fall Saturday Night Live performance is any indication, he’s back to fighting form. (The Venue at Horseshoe Casino, 777 Casino Center Dr, 8pm Friday. $44–$64)

2. See the beests

Dutch artist and physicist Theo Jansen brings his kinetic, wind-propelled sculptures to the Chicago Cultural Center for an exhibit that opens this weekend and runs through May. The moving pieces of art are constructed from light-weight PVC pipe, zip ties and sails. With the right amount of wind, they can walk on their own. (Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E Washington St, 7pm Friday, 10am Saturday & Sunday. Free)

3. Crawl the pier

It's not every weekend that "the world's largest indoor bar crawl" comes around. This Saturday, Navy Pier celebrates Mardi Gras early with a seriously massive (and heated) boozy crawl of 10 different bars and restaurants, including Billy Goat Tavern, DMK Burger Bar and the Crystal Gardens. (Navy Pier, 600 E Grand Ave, 2pm. $30)

4. Flashback to the 80s

The Analog Dreams Retro Synth dance party at Emporium Arcade Bar has DJs Polar and Stats spinning records that some ’80s babies took their first steps to. Now is your chance to reprise those steps with some more well-coordinated dance moves. (Emporium Arcade Bar, 1366 N Milwaukee Ave, 9pm. Free)

5. Explore multiple personalities

Danielle Pinnock takes on several characters in this one-woman play drawn from interviews with more than 300 people about self image. Part autobiographical, Pinnock also takes on varied personalities such as a single mother who went into the escort business in her 40s and a young British man with Parkinson's disease. (Rivendell Theatre, 5779 N Ridge Ave, 8pm. $32–$35)
