1. Search for your new favorite record

At the CHIRP Record Fair guests can flip through crate after crate of vinyl records. Enjoy live DJ sets, local craft beer, and even learn how to make a zine. (Chicago Journeyman and Plumbers Union Hall, 1340 W Washington Blvd, Sat 8am, $7-$25)

2. Celebrate poetry month

The Poetry Foundation is hosting Young People's Poet Laureate Jacqueline Woodson to celebrate poetry month. Guests can attend readings by Woodson and participate in activities for kids and teens. (The Poetry Foundation Building, 61 W Superior St, 10am, Free)

3. Go for nothin' but net

Don't let the March madness stop! Grab some friends and shoot hoops at the first 3 for the V Foundation Basketball Tournament. Teams of five or three compete in a double-elimination tournament which helps raise money for a great cause. (DePaul Ray Meyer Center, 2263 N Sheffield, Sat 9am-6pm, $225-$350)

4. Find something homemade

Discover hand-crafted jewelry, delicate paper crafts and beautiful knit projects at the Handmade Market at the Empty Bottle. More than 30 local vendors will be there to sell goods for the last market of the season. (Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western Ave, Sat noon-4pm, Free)

5. Listen to the symphony

Come hear the acclaimed Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes play Johannes Brahms' beautiful piano quartet. An ensemble of string players, including Violinist Christian Tetzlaff and cellist Clemens Hagen, will be there to assist the renowned pianist. (Symphony Center, 220 S Michigan Ave, 3pm, $37-$116)
