It finally feels like we've made it to fall, and if you're like me, that means it's time to hunker down with a spirit-forward cocktail, appropriate for sipping. This week, you should try one from the Loyalist, one half of a new West Loop restaurant and bar with a fine dining element (the main floor, Smyth) and a comfortable walk-in lounge in the basement (the Loyalist).
While we're pretty big fans of all the cocktails we've tried on the Loyalist's menu, the Nothing Noble sticks out as something perfect for this weekend. It's got elements of an old-fashioned, with a bit of a twist. This drink is packed with bourbon, sweetened with demerara sugar, bittered with Amargo Vallet bitters, lemons and verbena for a refreshing kick. We think it's just right for cozying up in this dark lounge for the night, whether you kick your night off with it or hang out for the evening while munching on some seasonal snacks.
