Usher in farmers’ market season

It’s that time of year again! To kick-start the 2017 outdoor market season, Green City Market is hosting an opening day party at their flagship Lincoln Park location. Come for the fresh cheese, stay for the chef demos and festival games. (Green City Market, 1800 N Clark St, Sat 7am–1pm. Free)

Celebrate Polish independence

Each year, the Polish Constitution Parade marches through downtown to honor Europe’s first democratic constitution. Join the quarter of a million attendees at this annual celebration of Slavic culture. (Columbus Dr and Balbo Ave, Sat at 11:30am. Free)

Feel like a kid again

Bring the family to Montrose Harbor for the Kids and Kites Festival, a day-long party where kids can fly kites or watch professional demonstrations. You just might be enticed to buy a fancy new kite, which will be available for purchase on site. (Montrose Harbor, 4400 N Lake Shore Dr, Sat 10am–4pm. Free)

Day-drink your Saturday away

Just because it’s not Bears season doesn’t mean you can’t spend your weekend drinking at Soldier Field. Hit up the Chicago Beer Classic to sample drinks from over 80 breweries, including local favorites and national names alike. (Soldier Field, 1410 S Museum Campus Dr, Sat 11:30am–2:30pm, 4:30pm–7:30pm. $65)

Go to a one-year-old’s birthday party

No, not for an actual baby—for Saint Lou’s Assembly. The West Loop BBQ joint with killer cocktails is celebrating its first birthday this weekend with a silent disco and a whole pig roast with Hopewell and Goose Island brews. Entry’s free, but you can feast yourself on Sunday for just $6. (Saint Lou’s Assembly, 664 W Lake St, Sat 9pm–midnight, Sun 4pm–6pm. Free)

Party it up for Cinco de Mayo

Sure, it’s on the 7th, but there’s no more authentic Cinco de Mayo celebration in Chicago than the parade through Little Village. Celebrate the Mexican victory over the French with floats, food and a carnival. (1800 W Cermak Rd, Sun at 12pm. Free)

Catch young R&B talent

Silky-voiced Kehlani has been featured on the soundtracks of Fate of the Furious and Suicide Squad, but now she’s touring her major label debut, SweetSexySavage. See her at the Concord with England’s Ella Mai and Canadian rapper Jahkoy. (Concord Music Hall, 2047 N Milwaukee Ave, Sun at 6pm. $25–$80)
