The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Back in Black

Comedian Lewis Black returns to Chicagoland to deliver his impassioned brand of biting social and political commentary. (North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, 9501 Skokie Blvd, Skokie, 7:30pm. $63-$79)

2. Take over the taps

County Barbecue pairs their best dishes with limited release and flagship beers by Off Color Brewing at this tap takeover in University Village/Little Italy. We recommend the Dino S'mores imperial stout with a s'mores sundae. (County Barbecue, 1352 W Taylor St, 6pm. Prices vary)

3. Attend a beauty pageant (seriously)

A beauty pageant held in a women's prison seems a little hokey for a premise to a play until you learn it's based on the real thing. The plot in José Rivera's Another Word for Beauty is drawn from interviews with actual inmate-contestants from the Buen Pastor Prison in Bogotá, Colombia. (Goodman Theatre, 170 N Dearborn St, 2pm & 7:30pm. $25–$75)
