The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Make waves

The lead singers of Best Coast and Wavves are dating, and their fan bases nicely overlap, so of course the bands would tour with one another. This duo of California bands, along with opener Cherry Glaze, are sure to turn Thalia Hall into a surf punk haven. (Thalia Hall, 1807 S Allport St, 6:30pm. $30, balcony $35)

2. Rock out in the UKV

Eleanor Friedberger, half of formerly Chicago-based indie darlings the Fiery Furnaces, returns to town to show off her blossoming solo career. Find her in the Ukrainian Village tonight, taking the stage at the Empty Bottle in support of New View, her third solo LP. (Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western Ave, 9pm. $15)

3. Dance in drag

This cross-dressing bonanza at Double Door is one of the best recurring drag shows in the city. Fabitat is open to any and all and also features live music DJ sets. With Double Door currently wrapped up in a court battle to retain its lease, this could be one of Fabitat's last runs at the iconic venue. (Door No. 3, 1572 N Milwaukee Ave, 9pm. No cover)
