The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Get onstage

Sit back and relax in comfy couches and armchairs for a night of open mic comedy at Logan Theatre. If doing stand-up in Chicago is on your bucket list, get there at 8pm to sign up. (Logan Theatre, 2646 N Milwaukee Ave, 8pm. Free)

2. Listen to some local folk

Get rid of the Monday blues by listening to soulful folk artist Robbie Fulks. This local roots singer covers little-known country artists and pop hits during his weekly gig at the Hideout. (The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave, 7pm. $10 suggested donation)

3. Escape to a tropical disco

Tiki bars and disco might seem like opposing forces, but Paul McGee knows this Texas Tiki Disco mashup is genius. This week, guest bartender Bobby Heugel of Anvil Bar & Refuge in Houston channels the best of the '70s with tropical takes on classic cocktails and shareable punch bowls with a Texas edge. Snack on retro eats such as shrimp cocktail and pigs in a blanket. (Lost Lake, 3154 W Diversey Ave, 4pm–2am. Free)
