The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Catch a show

Don’t be fooled by Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s psych-rock appearances, the band's woozy melodies clearly draw inspiration from R&B. Show up early to catch a set from buzzy Chicago folk rockers Whitney. (Thalia Hall, 1807 S Allport St, 8pm. $22–$25)

2. Grab a drink

If you love the inclusive Chances Dances parties but are more of a wallflower than a dancing queen, Off Chances might be more you’re speed. There are always plenty of cheap drinks, good music, free stuff and LGBTQIA folks. (Danny’s Tavern, 1951 W Dickens Ave, 10pm. Free)

3. See an exhibit

Get a candid look inside Iran with this exhibit of documentary photos, portraits and fine art photography. The artists showing their work in "Burnt Generation" have all worked or lived in Iran, which give their pictures a unique perspective. (Museum of Contemporary Photography, 600 S Michigan Ave, 10am. Free)
