1. Find your funny bone

Make your way to the Laugh Factory for a night of open mic comedy. This California-based chain may seem like it can’t compare to other Chicago institutions, but the club has hosted everyone from Sarah Silverman to Jon Stewart. (Laugh Factory, 3175 N Broadway, 6:30pm. Free)

2. Get a bird’s eye view

Take a look at Tony Fitzpatrick’s bird-centric collage art in the exhibit The Secret Birds. The local artist uses his favorite source of inspiration, birds, as the focus of his colorful drawings, paintings and mixed-media art. (DePaul Art Museum, 935 W Fullerton Ave, 11am. Free)

3. Make it a dinner theater date night

We Gotta Bingo is an interactive dinner theater experience that's way more entertaining than your grandma's tired bingo game. In between the drama of lively characters pitted against one another, you’ll have time for a family-style Italian dinner. (Chicago Theater Works, 1113 W Belmont Ave, 6:30pm. $49–$69)
