The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. See a psychedelic band

Australian band Tame Impala is the perfect soundtrack to your lazy, sunny summer days. The heady melodies and vintage R&B grooves have already won over Rihanna, who covered one of the group's songs on her recent record. (UIC Pavillion, 525 S Racine Ave, 7:30pm. $39)

2. Party in an alley

Join the festivities as ACTIVATE transforms the Sullivan Center Alley into a mash-up of art, music, drinks and dancing. This year’s theme focuses on the five senses, so get ready to hear the best DJs and “mind-bending” music. (Sullivan Center Alley, 16 E Monore St, 5pm. Free)

3. Drink rare beer

The annual fundraiser Lions, Tigers and Beers raises money for The Wildcat Sanctuary and is sponsored by some of Chicago’s best breweries. Enter raffles and sip on Off Color’s new Flemish-style brown ale Wunderkammer or the specially brewed Liger by B. Nektar Meadery. (Northdown Café and Taproom, 3244 N Lincoln Ave, 11am. Free)
