1. Play trivia and bingo

At Beauty Bar, you don’t have to choose between getting your nails done and going out for drinks. The same goes for trivia night and bingo games. Bring a group of friends or play a game solo—either way you’ll get a chance to win awesome prizes. (Beauty Bar, 1444 W Chicago Ave, 7pm. Free)

2. See an electrifying play

The House That Will Not Stand is a play about marriage, slavery and family set in 1813 in New Orleans. The cast is fantastic across the board, and writer Marcus Gardley does not shy away from melodrama. (Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N Lincoln Ave, 2pm. $15–$60)

3. Listen to jazz on the lake

Find a seat on the Shedd Aquarium’s lakeside terrace and enjoy Jazzin’ at the Shedd. Guests can sip on cocktails, enjoy the sunset and even head inside to explore the aquarium’s exhibits, which are open late. (Shedd Aquarium, 1200 S Lake Shore Dr, 5pm. $20, $18 advance)
