1. Run to burgers and beer

Motivate yourself to join the 5K craze with this Burger and Beer 5K. Every participant gets a juicy Shake Shack burger and cold Begyle Brewing beer when they cross the finish line at Soldier Field. (Soldier Field, 1410 S Museum Campus Dr, 7pm. $40)

2. Learn about modern art

Examine photos of chipped paint peeling from walls and beautifully framed landscape shots in Aaron Siskind’s exhibition. Throughout his decades-long career he became the vanguard of the Abstract Expressionist movement in photography. (Art Institute of Chicago, 111 S Michigan Ave, 10:30am. $14)

3. Enjoy a free concert

Pack a picnic basket, spread your blanket out and listen to some sweet Afro-soul music. Nigerian singer-songwriter King Sunny Adé, local afro-soul singer Ugochi and the Afro Soul Ensemble will serenade you at the Millennium Park Summer Music Series concert. (Millennium Park, 205 E Randolph St, 6:30pm. Free)
