1. Kick it with your kiddos

Take the kids to Millennium Park for a festival that's all about them. From 10am to 2pm, the Target Family Fun Festival provides activities like sing-alongs, a reading circle and dance sessions. Spend a summer afternoon with your little ones at this active and kid-centered festival. (Millennium Park, 55 N Michigan Ave, 10am–2pm. Free)

2. Get behind the scenes access

Get access to the most reclusive and tightly controlled country in the world at the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s “North Korean Perspective.” This stellar exhibition is divided into two sections, the first displaying the North Korean government’s official version of the cut-off country, and the second showing an alternate reality through photos from embedded journalists and international reporters. (Museum of Contemporary Photography, 600 S Michigan Ave, 10am-5am. Free)

3. End your day on a high note

Tuesday is becoming an unofficial jazz night these days in Chicago with Tuesdays on the Terrace and other music around the city. This week, shake up your night with an indie rock twist. Saxophonist Colin Stetson takes a break from touring with Arcade Fire, Bon Iver and an endless list of indie rock giants to perform his unique and impressive indie-jazz blend. (Shubas, 3159 N Southport Ave, 8pm. $14)
