The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Don’t miss this sausage party

Celebrate Chicago’s signature dish with the return of Hot Dog Fest. Head to the Chicago History Museum to sample dozens of doggies. Vendors like Chubby Wieners, Fatso's Last Stand and Frank Meats Patty will be slinging weenies all weekend while cover bands rock out while you shove 'em in. (Chicago History Museum, 1601 N Clark St. Free)

2. Don your kimono and have a taste of culture

Celebrate the Ginza Festival’s big six-zero this weekend! This Japanese culture fest includes live martial arts, traditional music and dancing—and of course, Japanese cuisine. Waza (craftsmen) will also sell their goods so bring a little spending money, or just splurge on all the great food. (Midwest Buddhist Temple, 435 W Menomonee St, 5:30pm. $12)

3. Play it by ear

If you know the names David Pasquesi, Scott Adsit, John Lutz, Stephnie Weir, Bob Dassie or T.J. Jagodowski, you probably already have tickets to "Stolen House." This show stars improv royalty who will produce a full-length play using the set and lighting design of Stupid Fucking Bird. (Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N Lincoln Ave, 10:30pm. $24)
