1. Dance to the hottest new music

Brooklyn-based Xenia Rubinos brings her distinct sound (R&B meets jazz meets pop) and hauntingly poignant lyrics to Chicago tonight. If you’re unfamiliar with Xenia, do yourself a favor and give her a listen. (Empty Bottle, 1035 N Western Ave, $12, $10 in advance)

2. Hear some incredible storytelling

Sidetrack hosts a monthly LGBTQ storytelling showcase aptly titled OUTspoken! Though the speakers themselves are queer, their stories’ themes appeal to all genders and sexualities. (Sidetrack, 3349 N Halsted, 6pm. Free)

3. Catch an independent rom-com

The Midwest International Film Festival is screening the Chicago premiere of Who Gets The Dog? starring Alicia Silverstone and Ryan Kwanten. A Q&A with the filmmakers will follow the screening. (Music Box Theatre, 3733 N Southport, 7:30pm. $10–$15)
