The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Don’t miss your chance

Don’t miss one of two live screenings of Platforms, a retrospective highlighting more than 100 queer artists’ work from the organization's Critical Fierceness financial grants, presented by Chances Dances in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Chances Dances also throws parties the second week of September. (Nightingale, 1084 N Milwaukee Ave, 8pm. $5)

2. Don’t say a word

Between last weekend’s North Coast Music Festival and this weekend’s Riot Fest, music lovers have a lot on their plates. So it would take something pretty special to bring us out for an additional show tonight. In comes Ratatat. It’s hard to pass up the synthetic psych rock duo coming off of last summer’s album, LP4, and frankly, you shouldn’t.(Riviera Theatre, 4746 N Racine Ave, 8pm. $30)

3. Don’t put art on a pedestal

The Museum of Contemporary Art’s immersive in “S, M, L, XL” looks at artworks that increase in size and ambition, like the interior of a decommissioned air balloon and a narrowing hallway. See if they measure up. (Museum of Contemporary Art, 220 E Chicago Ave, 10am–8pm. $12 suggested admission)
