1. See a one night-only comedy show

The charmingly anxious Chris Gethard is testing out his new Off Broadway show, Chris Gethard: Career Suicide, for one night in Chicago. Grab tickets if you can—Gethard is brilliant. (Annoyance Theatre, 851 W Belmont Ave, 9pm. Free)

2. Hit up a swanky film party

Kick off the 52nd Chicago International Film Festival at their preview party tonight. You’ll get the full festival lineup, as well as cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Look sharp. (Green River, 259 E Erie St, 18th Floor, 6–8pm. RSVP at rsvp@chicagofilmfestival.com.)

3. Kick back at a low-key trivia night

Logan Square’s Parts & Labor weekly trivia night is a great way to spend a beautiful fall evening. Just make sure you brush up on your deep-cut pop culture knowledge beforehand. (Parts & Labor, 2700 N Milwaukee Ave, 9pm. Free)
