The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Find that special spark

Franz Ferdinand combines their dance-pop rock with Sparks's irreverent art-rock inclinations to create the oh so cheeky FFS. Come see this supergroup at the Vic tonight, where we hope to hear the playfully meta "Collaboration Don't Work," from the self-titled album. (Vic Theatre, 3145 N Sheffield Ave, 8pm. $40, advanced $35)

2. Take a terrifying trip to Addison

It’s haunted house season, delighting Chicago’s horror freaks and scream-seekers through early November. With so many nearby terrifying attractions to choose from, you’ll need to get going asap, and we recommend starting with Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare, featuring three houses that will haunt you all month long. (Odeum Expo Center, 1033 N Villa Ave, Addison, 7pm. $30, advanced $25)

3. Get dirty with Dave

Foul-mouthed tour de force and world touring comic Dave Attell continues to deliver hilarious comedy not suitable for kids. Recently, he’s been dissecting adult films on Showtime's Dave's Old Porn, and he brings his talent to Up Comedy Club for a three-night run we can’t wait to enjoy. (Up Comedy Club, 230 W North Ave, 8pm. $35)
