1. Catch a sketch revue in the works

The Second City’s 105th Mainstage Revue is currently in previews and is yet to be titled. Check it out in its early stages before opening night. (The Second City, 1616 N Wells St, 8pm. $23–$48)

2. Jazz up your holiday traditions

Swing up to Evanston to hear the Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn rendition of The Nutcracker, Not So Silent Night, with Chicago Jazz Orchestra’s Jeff Lindberg conducting. (Pick-Staiger Concert Hall at Northwestern University, 50 Arts Circle Dr, 7:30pm. $25, students $10)

3. Explore Nollywood

Iké Udé’s exhibit Nollywood Portraits: A Radical, features a series of portraits of actors out of Lagos, Nigeria’s prolific film industry. Get to know the actors you don’t see in US Weekly. (Museum of Contemporary Photography, 600 S Michigan Ave, 10am–8pm. Free)
