The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Don't watch Star Wars

...experience it instead. One of Logan Square's best cocktail bars is recasting itself as the Mos Eisley Cantina, the galactic watering hole where Luke Skywalker met Obi Wan Kenobi, Han Solo and Chewbacca in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The bar will be serving themed drinks and Silent Reading will perform as the cantina's house band, Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. Might as well wear your costume (as you probably can't wear to see The Force Awakens). (The Whistler, 2421 N Milwaukee Ave, 6pm. Free)

2. Stay forever young

The Kiss FM Jingle Ball brings to town not one, not two, but five tween pop acts that will either make you cringe or cry tears of joy. The lineup includes One Direction's edgier boy-band counterpart 5 Seconds of Summer, Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, Tove Lo, Hailee Steinfeld and others. (Allstate Arena, 6920 N Mannheim Rd, 7:30pm. $35–$100)

3. Witness a harpist

Almost five years have passed since harpist and singer Joanna Newsom released her last album, Have One on Me, but this year she returned with Diver. She'll bring new songs, old tunes and her unmistakable voice to the Chicago Theatre tonight. (Chicago Theatre, 175 N State St, 8pm. $29.50-$59.50)
