The three best things to do today in Chicago

1. Have a very R&B holiday

Head to the Whistler for the very last Slo ‘Mo of the year. This holiday edition of the Logan Square favorite is bound to be extra special, as it’s Slo ‘Mo co-founder DJ Tess’s last set with the party. (The Whistler, 2421 N Milwaukee Ave, 7pm-2am. Free)

2. Dive into contemporary American art

“Art AIDS America” examines how the AIDS crisis of the ‘80s shaped the American art world, specifically for queer artists. The exhibit features work by Keith Haring, Jenny Holzer, Kia Labeija and more. (Alphawood Gallery, 2401 N Halsted St, 11am-8pm. Free)

3. Catch theater where you’d least expect it

See a family-friendly production of Twelfth Night at the Lincoln Park Conservatory—yeah, that big glass building with all the plants. Trust me, they keep it nice and toasty. (Lincoln Park Conservatory, 2391 N Stockton Dr, 7:30pm. Free)
